THE 13-WEEK PRONUNCIATION PROGRAMME
A completely tailored and personalised programme which targets your specific pronunciation needs.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
To put it simply, we take the guesswork out of improving your pronunciation.
- Firstly, we analyse your speech in detail and identify the exact sounds of English that cause difficulty for you. From this, we produce a personalised training plan that maps out every step of your journey.
- Next, we work with you on a 1-to-1 basis via live video calls every week. During these highly interactive and engaging sessions, we use proven techniques that teach you how to produce and master the sounds of English set out in your personal plan. What’s more, you have access to an online ‘practice lab’ to sharpen your new skills between the live classes.
- Following your final session, we carry out a second analysis of your speech in English. When looked at together with your first test, this gives you a percentage improvement score and a clear measure of your success at the end of the course.
The Compton PESL Methodology
We use the long-established Compton PESL (Pronouncing English as a Second Language) method. This powerful method was designed by Arthur J. Compton PhD, a linguistics expert and the founder of the Institute of Language and Phonology (ILP). So, you can be confident that your learning journey is structured for success.
How much can I expect to improve?
The ILP has conducted studies that show a 50% improvement in pronunciation skills when clients do the recommended amount of practice. However, in practice, instructors often see up to an 80% improvement in their clients’ pronunciation skills. It is important to realise that we ask you to practice for 30 to 60 minutes a day. This is undoubtedly the best way to ensure that you get a high improvement score.
What are the benefits of pronunciation training?
- Increased confidence to express your true self and real personality when speaking English.
- Better trust in your pronunciation, letting you concentrate on delivering your message with impact.
- More engaging interpersonal relationships at work or home.
- Greater satisfaction at being understood by others the first time, every time.

IN DETAIL: THE 13-WEEK ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION PROGRAMME
About Our Founder and Lead Trainer
Mary Lamb BA (Hons), CGP.
Mary is from the UK and has long been fascinated by the English language. She received her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Durham in the UK (a World Top 100 university). Shortly afterwards, she began her teaching journey when she moved to Japan to teach English as part of the Japanese Government’s prestigious ‘Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme’.
After spending three years teaching English in Japan, Mary returned to the UK and spent the next decade working in corporate governance and board support roles in London. During this time she qualified as a Chartered Governance Professional (CGP) with The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI). As such, Mary has a broad range of experience working with senior executives and directors in both private and public companies across a broad range of industries.
In 2018, following a move to Singapore, Mary decided to combine her love of teaching the English language with her corporate experience and background, by helping non-native English speaking students and professionals to communicate in English with confidence. In fact, she has worked with clients from all over the world including Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Isreal, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
Recognising the specific need of her clients for a structured methodology to help them improve their pronunciation of English sounds, Mary qualified as a Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language (PESL) certified instructor. Soon afterwards, she founded Accentutor to help her clients to meet this need.
